This full day adventure will allow you to enjoy both the magnificent panoramic views Salvador offers, as well as discover its rich history, extraordinary architecture, and dynamic culture.

We will explore the city from different angles, discovering the Lower City, with its bucolic atmosphere lulled by the calm waters of the All Saints Bay; and continuing to the tip of the Itapagipe Peninsula and the Upper City – the cradle of our city’s history.

Our journey will start at the Farol da Barra, where we will enjoy the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and the entrance to the bay.  We will then make our way up Ladeira da Barra to the upscale neighborhood of Vitoria, with its historic buildings and elegant luxury condominiums, passing through Campo Grande and its famous monument to honor Dois de Julho (Bahia’s independence from the Portuguese crown).

Next, we will arrive at the Bonfim Church, one of the most famous churches in all of Brazil and a great representation of the religious syncretism so present in our culture, where we can tie the traditional colored ribbons and ask all the saints for their protection.

On the way, we will go to Ponta de Humaitá and stop at the Mont Serrat Fort, where we will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Salvador. We will then head to Dique do Tororó, where we will appreciate the famous sculptures of the Orixás (African Deities) by the artist Tati Moreno, which reflect the African influence in the everyday lives of Bahians, and we will see the soccer stadium, Arena Fonte Nova.

#5 Tour to Cachoeira – A Day in the Countryside – 8 hours

8:00 a.m. Pick up at the hotel (time can be ajusted according to your convenience).

The journey to the historic town of Cachoeira will take you around the coast of All Saints Bay, in the Recôncavo Baiano, and surprise you with a delightful day of insights into Brazilian rural life.

This region is rich in history and natural beauty.  Cachoeira is located 110 km (68 mi) from Salvador and was, during the colonial period, a thriving commercial city with a busy river port. It was here that we started the battles against the Portuguese for the consolidation of Brazil’s independence in Bahia.

On our way to Cachoeira, we will stop in Santo Amaro to visit a fascinating and bustling rural market, where you will see (and maybe taste!) some of Bahia’s spectacular fruits, vegetables and its peculiar products. We will also see the Church of Our Lady of Purification.  Once in Cachoeira, we will take a walk to admire the typical colonial architecture, churches, and the idyllic Paraguaçu river, one of the most important in Bahia.

For lunch, and depending on availability, we can go to a colonial farm (where we will have a beautiful view of the river and surroundings) or to a local restaurant in town.  After lunch, we will visit a famous handmade cigar factory in the twin town of São Félix, across the river.

  • Transportation with air-conditioning and mineral water

#6 Folkloric Show & Dinner – 3 hours

7:00 p.m. Pick up at the hotel.

This evening tour will take you on a walk through the cobblestoned streets and squares of the historical area of Salvador, allowing you to enjoy the facades of the colonial houses and illuminated churches, until we reach the restaurant where we will taste the delights of the Bahian cuisine.

Then, the folkloric show begins! Heavily influenced by Bahia’s African culture, this riveting show starts with the presentation of the dances of the Orixás (the deities of Candomblé), the maculelê, a dance-fight from the region of the Recôncavo Baiano to celebrate the harvest of sugar cane, where the slaves would use sticks and machetes; and the famous capoeira, a blend of dance and fight of Angolan origin that will energize us with the rhythms of the berimbau and the atabaques (drums). We cannot fail to mention Samba de Roda (Samba in a circle), which gave rise to our national dance – the samba – and other folkloric manifestations from the northeast of Brazil, such as forró, xaxado and baião.
